My personal favorite now is maybe The War Hound and the World's Pain.īut, unlike any other author of his stature, it is difficult to obtain his works in a coherent and consistent fashion - especially Elric - because of all the reprints and revisions and omnibus editions. I recommend you read the Hawkmoon and Corum series next, both superb and self-contained, unlike some of the other Eternal Champion works. He is a sort of anti-Tolkien, because he broke the mold of the traditional 'fairytale' fantasy trope. I love his work! Michael Moorcock almost single-handedly defined and re-defined the modern fantasy genre with so many inventive and experimental series.
